Who runs Fairlode, and how we check our work
Fairlode is run by Blue Canvas AI Ltd, a private limited company registered in Northern Ireland (company number NI737502) and based in Derry. Phil Patterson, the company's director, reads every description sent through Fairlode. Our guides are general information, checked against the sources linked on each page. They are not legal advice, valuations or offers.

What Fairlode does
Fairlode helps businesses in Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland find out whether their records might interest AI developers, without sending the records. You describe what the business holds. We review the description, say what would need resolving first, and tell you whether we know of a relevant buyer requirement. If there is a fit and you approve it, we may introduce you to a named partner.
What Fairlode does not do
- We do not buy, hold or resell data.
- We do not value datasets or publish prices.
- We do not give legal, tax or security advice.
- We do not guarantee interest, an introduction, an offer or income.
- We do not share an identifiable description outside Blue Canvas without separate written approval from an authorised person at your company.
How we review a description
A person reads every description. We look at what the records document, whether they show outcomes and reasons, their rough size and age, who owns them and any restrictions you mention. Questionnaire rules help us organise submissions, but a person reviews each one before deciding whether to take it further. We reply by email to the work address you give us.
Often the honest answer is that the records are not a fit right now. We say so.
How we check our guides
- Each guide and article lists the sources it relies on. For legal points we link to the law itself (legislation.gov.uk for the UK, the Irish Statute Book for the Republic of Ireland) or to the regulator or institution that publishes the guidance (the ICO, the Data Protection Commission or the European Commission).
- Each page shows a Last checked date. It changes only when we re-check that page's sources and claims, not when the site is rebuilt.
- Where the rules differ, we keep Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland separate.
- Examples marked as illustrative are made up to explain a point. They are not customer case studies.
- No page on Fairlode is presented as legal advice or as reviewed by a lawyer. Take advice on your own situation.
How we're paid
- The assessment is free.
- If you license data through a partner we introduced, that partner pays us a referral fee. We confirm the partner, how the fee is worked out and who pays it, in writing, before any introduction.
- Some programmes ask you to apply through our referral link; we'll tell you when.
- An optional paid readiness session (a structured checklist; we see no data and give no legal advice) is quoted in writing first.
Corrections
If something on Fairlode is wrong or out of date, email contact@bluecanvas.ai with the page address, the wording you think is wrong and, if you have one, a source. We check the point against the source, correct the page if needed and update its Last checked date.
